Cuomo tells gay activists he will legalize same-sex marriage
Our Kate Lucadamo is on scene at the Empire State Pride Agenda's Fall Dinner, where just a short time ago, Andrew Cuomo told attendees he wants to make their hopes of legal same-sex marriage a reality. "I don't want to be the governor who just proposes marriage equality. I don't want to be the governor who lobbies for marriage equality. I don't want to be the governor who fights for marriage equality. I want to be the governor who signs the law that makes equality a reality in the state of New York," said the Democratic nominee. The declaration was "music to our ears," one activist said. There were initially some reports that Cuomo wasn't going to show up at the event, and that he declined to fill out ESPA's candidate questionnaire. It's good that they focus on how the meaning of "Marriage" works, when all most gay people really want is equal treatment over TAX AND BENEFIT wise from their government and employers. And the last time I checked, most of them aren't that religious anyway, so the whole "Marriage Is a Religious Sacrament" aspect probably isn't a top priority. I don't know if legalizing gay marriage would be the right idea, but if it is, then I might as well agree.
